Affordable shipping insurance for your WooCommerce store. Save up to 90% compared to carrier insurance. Covers loss, damage, and shortage.

== Description ==

U-PIC Shipping Insurance integrates directly with your WooCommerce store, providing affordable coverage for every shipment. Protect your business from shipping risks like loss, damage, and shortage — with real insurance backed by a licensed provider.

**Key Features:**

* **Save 50%-90%** compared to carrier-provided insurance
* **Any carrier supported** — USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and more
* **Three insurance modes** — Seller-paid, customer-paid, or hybrid
* **Cart & checkout widgets** — Let customers opt in to shipping protection
* **Classic & Blocks support** — Works with both WooCommerce checkout types
* **Dashboard** — View insured orders, stats, and manage preferences
* **Fast claims** — File claims through your U-PIC account with quick resolutions
* **Real insurance** — True shipping insurance, not package protection or self-insurance

**Insurance Modes:**

* **Seller-Paid** — You pay for insurance on all orders. Costs appear on your monthly invoice.
* **Customer-Paid** — Customers opt in to shipping protection at cart or checkout. You collect the funds and U-PIC bills you.
* **Hybrid** — Offer protection to customers. If they skip it, you cover insurance automatically based on your rules.

**Tracking Integrations:**

* WooCommerce Shipment Tracking (primary)
* ShipStation for WooCommerce
* AfterShip Tracking

**How It Works:**

1. Install and activate the plugin
2. Apply for coverage at [u-pic.com](https://u-pic.com)
3. Once approved, configure your preferences (insurance mode, minimum order value)
4. Insurance is applied automatically based on your settings
5. File claims through your U-PIC account if issues arise

== Installation ==

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= How do I apply for U-PIC Shipping Insurance? =

Visit [u-pic.com](https://u-pic.com) and submit an application. Approval typically takes 24-48 hours.

= How is the insurance premium calculated? =

Your premium depends on your rate type:

* **Dollar per DVU** — 1 DVU = $100 of order value. Premium = number of DVUs x your rate.
* **Percentage** — Premium = order total x your percentage rate.

= What does the insurance cover? =

U-PIC covers loss, damage, and shortage during transit. Coverage begins when the carrier takes possession and ends upon delivery.

= Who files claims? =

You (the merchant) file claims through your U-PIC account at [u-pic.com/account](https://u-pic.com/account). Customers contact you for resolution; U-PIC pays you.

= Does this work with WooCommerce Blocks checkout? =

Yes. The plugin supports both Classic and Blocks checkout.

= Are international shipments covered? =

Yes, with some excluded countries. See [u-pic.com/faqs](https://u-pic.com/faqs) for details.

= What happens with local pickup orders? =

Insurance is automatically skipped for local pickup and non-shipped orders.

== Changelog ==

= 1.0.12 =
* The FAQ's list of reasons an order is not insured now matches what the dashboard shows: it adds Below carrier deductible, explains that an order over the parcel limit is still insured up to that limit, and drops a sales-channel reason that never applies to WooCommerce

= 1.0.11 =
* The plugin now tells U-PIC which version it is running when it checks for updates, so a store that has not been opened in a while is no longer reported as being on an older build than it actually is

= 1.0.10 =
* More space between the insurance option and its border on the cart and checkout
* On the block-based cart and checkout the option spans the full width of the order summary instead of sitting inset
* Replaced a long dash with a plain one in the Add U-PIC Shipping Insurance (optional) label

= 1.0.9 =
* Orders that were skipped are now re-checked when they change, instead of being skipped permanently. An order placed before the store was approved used to stay skipped forever; it now syncs once the account is approved
* Orders with no shipping method, including local pickup, are now recorded rather than skipped, matching the Shopify app
* Nothing is insured or billed unless a real tracking number and carrier arrive, so a collected order is kept on record and never charged

= 1.0.8 =
* Clearer onboarding: the Application and Preferences pages explain that coverage starts once your account is approved, rather than implying setup is already finished
* You can tell U-PIC you have already applied, so the pages stop asking
* Every account status now has its own message, so a pending, declined or cancelled account is never left on a blank screen
* Cart widget takes your theme's colours instead of a white card, and shows a spinner while an opt-in is saving
* Deleting the plugin gives up all U-PIC access: the connection is revoked, the API key it created is removed from your site, and queued jobs are cleared
* Orders are held back rather than insured when the merchant record is incomplete
* Plugin updates are served from downloads.u-pic.net

= 1.0.4 =
* Connecting your store now registers it with U-PIC straight away, so there is a record of it before you apply
* A connected store that has not applied yet is told so plainly, with a direct link to the application, instead of being told an application is under review
* Apply links go straight to the WooCommerce application form, so U-PIC knows the application is for a WooCommerce store
* Spacing and text size fixes on the Connect button and the note beneath it

= 1.0.3 =
* The Home page now leads with a Connect Your Store button when your store is not connected yet, instead of a link to a dashboard you cannot reach
* Links to Account Overview no longer appear until your store is connected and approved
* Account Preferences simply states that your store is connected, rather than offering a button that would re-do it

= 1.0.2 =
* New Where Protection Is Offered setting: choose the cart page, the checkout page, or both. At least one must stay on
* The cart and checkout status now reflects reality, including a warning when your theme replaces the template the widget renders into
* Updates now install themselves, so every store stays on the current version without anyone having to click anything. Hosts that require manual updates can switch this off with UPIC_DISABLE_AUTO_UPDATE in wp-config.php
* New Plugin Version card on Account Preferences showing which version you are running
* Account Preferences now waits until your account is approved before offering settings, instead of showing controls that could not be saved yet
* Orders awaiting a manifest now say "Pending manifest" rather than showing a dash, which read as though something was wrong
* New "Your Dashboard & Billing" FAQ section: why an order is not insured, how billing works, multi-box orders, where tracking comes from, and what changing insurance mode does to existing orders
* Clearer wording for customer-paid and hybrid modes: protection is offered in the cart and at checkout, not checkout only
* Update checks now stand aside if the plugin is managed by another source, so a marketplace copy is never overwritten

= 1.0.0 =
* Initial release
* Three insurance modes: seller, customer, hybrid
* Cart and checkout widgets (Classic and Blocks)
* Dashboard with order stats, filtering, and pagination
* Preferences management (insurance mode, minimum order value rules)
* FAQ page
* Tracking integration: WooCommerce Shipment Tracking, ShipStation, AfterShip
* Local pickup detection (skips insurance for non-shipped orders)
* Support sidebar with contact info and resources
